painting tc to match truck or rhino it

been thinking about painting camper to match truck or rhino lining it will be going offroad want to protect it as much as possible. I do realize it will not be built proof wondering if anyone has done this or if it would stick to camper siding.

  • i understand butch50 just been thinking about doing differnt stuff to camper i was taught along time ago it never hurts to ask and thats what i was thinking still might paint it and not worry about rhino lining it. not worring about resale of it and dont plan on up grading truck.

I wouldn't worry about it till you put some desert pin stripping on it and if it gets to looking to bad then have him paint it for you. The paint isn't going to be any tougher than what is on the camper right now. If it was me I sure wouldn't waste any money yet.

Of course you might just want a different color than the stock color.

    This is IMO
  • That is great, but keep in mind the extra drama if you need future repairs, or if the liner fails. Respectfully, I think you are fixing something that is not broken. I would consider the paint, but not the liner.

Also consider, in the future you may upgrade your truck or TC. If the TC is too unique, it could effect the resale.

  • Personally, I see no advantage. If you have to make a repair to the TC, you will have a real mess dealing with the coating. You will add quite a bit of extra weight to the TC, although that is not a deal breaker. I have seen more than one Rhino truck bed liner or simulator product fail, and peal off in spots. If you ever have to replace a vent, the coating will make the repair more difficult. I would save the money for something more beneficial, like solar. Easy to spend $1000 on solar. Many upgrades available that would be more valuable to me than Rhino truck bed liner, especially for going offroad. Unless the TC needed to be painted, I would also save that money for upgrades. I would consider painting some trim to match the truck, but not spend a lot of money on that.

  • yes i have heard about that to but in the mountains and on fire roads still have the few branches that will scarp the to and sides and if it will stick to other stuff should stick on sides. just trying to help protect it when i do go in the woods
  • I will be curious what you find out. I called Rhino and inquired about their eco-coat for the roof, and was told that local RV manufacturers have instead been using standard Rhino truck bed liner on the roof with some sort of special paint applied...supposed to be very durable and a bit cheaper than the eco-coat formulation. Perhaps this option could be used for your siding as well? Or at least whatever tough paint they use.
