You can't make a fair comparison of a new camper to someone's poorly maintained castoff.
Not sure of lizzie's situation but I could understand swearing off a brand if that happened to a NEW camper. However, if it was a used camper you could expect that to happen to almost any brand, especially if it was poorly maintained.
My Palomino was kept inside, and had some periodic maintenance, during its first 10 years, and was in decent shape when I bought it. Based on my experiences with my Palomino I would look seriously at another one, because most of the problems I found were caused by the previous owner.
The only real serious design flaws in my camper are/were:
1. Leaky rear door. I have heard that this was common, and the problem has been addressed with a new door design.
2. Nonexistent floor support under the shower pan. The current version of the B1500 has a completely different bathroom design from mine, so the issue may be addressed. I would have to inspect the bathroom floor construction carefully before buying a new unit.
3. Bowed walls at the rear of the camper, making it difficult to lower the top. Now I'm not sure if this is a design flaw or damage, but it was this way when I bought it, and it hasn't gotten any worse since I've owned it. I would not buy a new Palomino if the walls were bowed on a new unit.
