5/16 or 3/8 chain will work. You dont need the highest test. I have also used a heavy yellow 3 inch tow strap. We were on the Natches Trace and the camp had two bad choices left. If it went down the hill it wouldnt be Youtube material it would be death. That was my first year and knew that I'd have chain on hand from now on.
