We have regular wheel chocks and use them. Once trailer is level and unhitched, we then install the X-Chocks. If I recall, the X-chocks shouldn't be installed before trailer is level (and should be removed before hooking up). When you raise/lower the tongue when unhitching/hitching, the movement can loosen the X-chocks. You really don't want the X-Chocks doing the work of the wheel chocks.
