If you read your owner's manual, and the documentation with it, I think you will find a recommendation to wash/clean it a minimum of twice per year. Washing it will not wear it out, and it will make it easier to keep the outside walls clean as well. Mine gets washed in the spring, mid summer and the fall before winter storage.
I've had mine two years. Park under a 70' oak tree. Drops small acorns late summer and fall. I don't cover it. I get up on it and clean with Dawn dish soap and warm water in the spring and fall. No harm from cleaning, no harm from the occassional twig or acorns. If something big enough to tear the roof falls on it, eternabond or dicor will likely solve that. If not, thats what I buy insurance for.
Doing so is following the manual and keeps my 10 yr roof warranty active and also gives me a reason and time to look over the vents, a/c, and roof seams to make sure they are in good shape and don't need re-sealing.
