You don't need a "chip", they are useless because they work in a very generic fashion. You need to have the PCM reprogrammed, or "tuned" as its known on the auto performance boards. Everyone gets all bent out of shape about the warranty. This is easy, you buy a second PCM and have that one reprogrammed instead. If you think you need warranty work, you put the "stock" PCM back in. The PCM can be tuned for towing, mileage, shift points, reduction of torque management, etc. There are a number of companies that do it. PCM4Less is one of the cheaper ones with a great reputation.

Chuckle all you want, but it is not rhetoric, here it is from the Federal Trade Commission.. Whether it is called the Moss-Magnuson Act or not, it is not legal for a dealer to refuse warranty work, unless an after market product causes damage to a warranted part....then they "may have" the "right" to refuse warranty service.
Understanding the Moss-Magnuson Act

It all sounds very nice until you have to fight a dealer to get your warranty work covered. There is nothing in the act to prevent a long drawn out process of "proof" that the modification did the damage. In the meantime you could be without a vehicle for months.
