Personally I think it's better to splice the incoming and outgoing grounds together with a separate jumper to the terminals in this case. Hardly any extra work to do it. A ground wire is normally non-current carrying but under some circumstances can be and the upstream 30A breaker must be able to open under the fault condition. I just didn't like what I saw in the PI EMS. I've also read a few reports of these things catching fire after a power surge on the power line and maybe the ground connections weren't as good as they could have been. JMO as an EE.
What would be the best way to do that...connect the incoming and outgoing ground wires together with a wire nut and from there have two wires going to the grounds on the EMS? All the same gauge wire I would think. Pardon my ignorance, trying to learn. :)
