Pine Sol and Alerts

So, I decided to clean the floor in my new TT. Put a gallon of hot water and 1/4 cup of Pine Sol in the sink - mopped the floors. The alarm ( I think CO2) started going off. Is this normal???

  • Well, turns out it was the propane alarm which is located near the floor as you enter the trailer. Seems to be working fine now. What a pain ;o)
  • I don't know the technology on the CO detector. Like "smoke" detectors, more than one technology is in use. CO detector is supposed to try to measure cumulative exposure as well as sudden high levels.

LPG detector is almost always a total organics device, usually looking for C-C and H-C bonds. There is a whole lot of stuff that will set those off, we aren't paying enough to get a device that will analyse the absorption spectrum to sort out one organic vapor from another.

Smoke detectors? Humidity will short out some types, that's why installation instructions say don't put it in the bathroom. A small RV closed up, when someone takes a shower the whole RV is a bathroom.
  • In my previous trailer, the smoke detector would sound off every time I took a (very short and low-water) shower. Some of these detectors are way too sensitive.
  • CO2 is carbon dioxide (not something alarmed for). Carbon Monoxide (CO) is usually an alarm that looks like a smoke detector or in some cases is part of the smoke detector and is usually mounted high. Propane alarm is usually in the kickboards of the bottom cabinets and as above mentioned, it seems that a lot of things set them off.

Anybody remember when the only thing we needed to know that propane was present was a bad smell? I hate my propane alarm.
  • Lysol spray, Dog farts, white potatoes, strong perfume, our propane alarm goes off if we think about it.

yeah! its been check and re-check
