The ole (new) Trailboss may have just barfed up some transmission parts....Here's the stats:20k miles5.3/10speedonly driven to church on Sundays by grammaHere's the conditions:Rockin and rollin down I-90 into town this morning. Got Eric Church and Lizzy Hale blarin' on the stereo.Doin bout 80-85mph.No trailer.30-40 mph headwind coming up off the Sound.Here's the symptoms:-Couple "bumps" felt in the drivetrain, thought it was wind gusts at first, honestly.-Dash lights up like it's Christmas. ESC, parking brake, wrench light, engine light, maybe more and the incessant warnings to "service" everything on the truck.-Dash lights go away except for engine light until I mash the skinny pedal again. More "bumps", more Xmas lights.-Truck runs "ok" right up the speed limiter, but is late/lazy shifting with higher than normal rpms before up-shifting.- At idle in gear or neutral, feels like the torque converter is hanging up or kicking in/out? If that makes sense.- Accelerating from a stop = audible whining noise from the middle underneath of the truck...you know, right about where the trans lives.Truck is supposed to get looked at this afternoon, our Equip Manager is taking it over to the dealer.Place your bets now! What is this mystery issue?(PS, at least I got almost 60k miles out of my 2016 Silverado 1/2 ton transmission...)

Funny story, though...Not sure whether to be appreciative of the knowledge or skeptical of the work, but the Dlr told me to change the oil in 1000 miles after I get it back.

And this is on top of a supposedly fresh oil change after they re-assembled it....

Love it. I tried the stereo thing, but this truck has almost as good a factory stereo as our SRT8. It sounds good, loud!
And I never tow over the trucks ratings at 40% over the speed limit!
(But it seems to hold 7th gear pretty well on the flats with 12klbs behind it at 80mph!) LOL

Kid at work here has a new (20 or 21 model) Ecoboost F150. Said he has an inital rattle on cold start. Dlr said cam phasers, although he feels it's not indicative of (his past) cam phaser issues on a newer 5.0.

I'm with ya (same trans as the Ford 10 speed).
As far as slushboxes go, I still put the ZF 8HP in first place. Any trans that can do what that one can do, deserves a gold medal.
I still, 15 years later can't think of anything in a diesel that betters the old Allison behind the Dmax.
And this 10 speed is generally spot on and virtually impossible to confuse. Only minor gripe is it doesn't downshift aggressively enough (in grade braking situations) in any mode. And tow/haul and sport mode are not a meaningful enough departure from the "normal" shifting to warrant the added expense of the switches and buttons and programming.
Ford 6R140 is a very close fourth place if not higher.

No experience with the HD 10 speeds and not enough time in an Aisin equipped truck to compare.

I really like the 10 speed in my Expedition MAX. My 3rd favorite transmission. The cam shaft rattle the engine has, not so much......

At least they have parts available to fix the truck. Kind of surprised that is the case with the way things are today.

Perfect example of "penny wise, pound foolish"...British origins, so dollars here...

Classic bean counter management that only cares about their bottom line...for that quarter. As their bonuses are based on quarterly performance...

But, that is the way of the corporate world. It is also known as 'financial management' vs 'managing the product'

As for GM's 8 cylinder deactivated to 4 cylinders, depends on which year/era.

GM's first iteration deactivated the same cylinders all the time when it went down to become a 4 banger. That had the deactivated cylinders not get hot enough and the rings were cold and not sealing. That then pumped engine oil into the cylinder to foul the plugs/valves/etc

Later years/era, the computer managed a rolling deactivation between all cylinders and read that they had balance issues at first.

Yes, and I haven’t gotten into the details much, but there WAS a past problem with AFM that shut down the same 4 cylinders.
As I understand, the newer engines (which include your vette) have DFM which can does shut down any of the cylinders. IE it spreads the love around.
And there may be other potential issues with DFM have seen folks who are shutting it off to preserve something. I’m just not very well read on it.
This particular issue as I understand it is merely defective lifters that are collapsing. And not necessarily related to the DFM.
As evidenced by it happening a lot at very low miles = just equals bad parts.
