Our trailer is parked permanently on our land in the country, we went up on Saturday to finish putting it to bed for the winter. Battery was disconnected and taken home trip before that, anything wired 12V would not work at all, lights, slide etc. We had take turns cranking the slide closed manually :R. My question is, do you think the convertor is bad or is it normal for these things to not work without a battery hooked up. Thanks!!
We did pretty much the same thing the other day. with trailer plugged in and no battery hooked up the lights slide everything worked fine - even had the furnace and radio on while we cleaned and winterized. But, it sounds like from other replies that some trailers require a battery hooked up if you want shore power. Always make sure the battery cables are well taped off so the ends can't touch anything metal when the batteries are disconnected, if the ends touch metal while you are plugged in you could blow your whole electrical system out - but hopefully just a fuse.
