Poor Appliance Installation

such poor workmanship!!

the cover for the furnace kept falling off because of stripped screw holes, so it was time for some investigation

turns out the hole for the furnace was too big and the vent to the outside was off by one inch

had to remove the stove to get at stuff, nothing under the stove, its just supported by 4 little screws into the countertop edge. they were all stripped out too

so cut the furnace hole to move it over an inch and straighten it, add some oak reinforcement around thje furnace, push it in all the way etc etc

just typical **** in tt's these days

  • there's plenty of space all around the grill for return air, in fact I turned it on, runs much quieter and blows more air
the manufacturer just cut the hole for the venting to the outside in the wrong place, then jury rigged it, left the furnace crooked with 1 screw holding it in and nothing but air to hold the grill cover on

    just lazy, don't care manufacturing

now on to fix the oven in properly
  • I had a furnace like that, they left the manual and paperwork laying on top of it. Found the problem after some plastic melted.
  • How about return air? Unless the cabinet can draw air from elsewhere it needs to be open around the front for the return air.
  • yes, ive got a nice big hole in the cabinetry!! matches the huge one above the fridge that I opened up last year!!

furnace needs 5/8 clearance at the sides, so i'll add a bulkhead next to it(with 5/8 space), cut a door opening and make a door

the lack of quality control is mind boggling

our next trailer will be from a small scale manufacturer, not a high volumn low price mass producer
  • Now you know where to store stuff that won't burn, likes heat etc.

yeah, and if they miss altogether, well qc will catch it later on

    yeah, sure.

in my first tt, the fridge actually came out of its "cabinet". nothing was holding it in except the gas line and gravity. the screws were stripped out too. same with the stove in that tt
