We opted for portable panels using a repurposed satellite dish bracket which was attached to the back of the solar panel and then slide down the center pole of a folding satellite dish tripod.
The panel can tilt and rotate around the pole to catch the sun without ever having to physically pick it up to place ina sunny spot. The center pole can be raised high and can accomodate another panel if needed, but we use a 30w monochrystalline panel to top off the battery during the day.
We are minimal energy users, and only in the trailer using electricity for a couple hrs in the evening before bed. We use propane for cooking and the fridge. Our trailer lights have been switched out to LED. We also recharge cell phones, Ipod/speakers and Nook with seperate solar charger. We do have a 2000i Champion generator that usually accompanies us on our trips as well.
