Not at all. It just means that displacement is not the sole determiner of power. The honda's put a lot of emphasis on quiet. They may be willing to spec a slightly larger motor and not push it quite as hard so it runs quieter. You'll have to ask them the specific design criteria they were following as I didn't do the design.
Honda's EU2200i increased displacement to a 121 cc engine from the EU2000i's 98.5 cc engine means even better surge capability, impressive considering the 2K's 1/2 hr surge rating already far outperformed the competition, including Yamaha's EF2000iS which was rated to only meet it's specification for 20". Anyone looking for a relatively lightweight genset (~ 50 lbs) for the purpose of powering a 13.5K BTU A/C ought to at least consider the new EU2200i along with installing a Micro-Air Easy Start Soft Starter Kit on the A/C. It's either that or buy a much larger, heavier genset OR two 2K units and parallel them - which doesn't sound like what the OP is looking for. With the new EU2200i also now having an integrated engine / fuel switch that allows one to run the carb dry before storage, a feature the EU2000i does not have, it sure seems the new Honda EU2200i may just be what the OP is looking for. :B
For $20 hutch mountain sells an easy to install kit that gives the honda 2000 the run dry mode.
