portable holding tanks

What is the best portable holding tank to buy? Does two or four wheels make a big difference? Is the 27 gal. bigger in size to carry than the 18 gal?

  • I like the one that holds waste water and let's me haul just the tank to the dump.

    I prefer the two wheel version because where I camp is not paved and two wheels are easier to deal with than four over rough terrain.

    Barker= good
    Tote-n-stor = good
    Thetford= good

    Pick the best deal you can make and enjoy the convience of not having to break camp to do the dump.

    Don't overthink it...it's just a poop tank.

    Thanks!

    I've seen others recommend the Barker tanks. Why? Is there something specific to the Barker that you like? Is it just built better?

    I'm also thinking of getting one and just starting to research it now.
  • We have a 27 gallon four wheel tote. It gets heavy when filled around 200 pounds. Once hooked up to truck no problem, just getting it to truck can be a challenge at times.
  • I like the 4 wheel models best. And also like the larger capacity. But the larger the more they hold and the heavier they get. Sometimes on a sandy or muddy sites the larger are not the best. But you don't have to fill them full just because they can hold it. I prefer the Barker tanks.
  • I have a 4 wheel one, 40 gallon i think. I can pull it behind my truck because it has a handle that fits over a trailer hitch.

    Unless water has somehow become compressible, yes.
