I have been having trouble with the slide on my 2012 Adventurer closing all the way. I took it to a local RV repair place last year and the fixed the problem but the fix only lasted for a couple of months.
You should identify the type of slide mechanism first.
Then ask for who can fix it.
The following is based on a Schwintek slide problem.
Your repair shop would have followed the Schwintek instructions for aligning the slide (they measure top/bottom and side-to-side extension of the gear track) and tighten it up. It works for a while then fails because there is a small part either broken or missing.
My repair shop had this exact problem and it took them a long time to figure out what was wrong.
One way to fix the problem is to replace the entire slide mechanism (about $900. in parts alone).
The other way is to replace broken missing parts (find them on ebay).
I think your repair shop is defeated by the problem.
If the repair shop want to win this problem then refer them to this illustrated post:

They will have to find the parts on ebay (possibly elsewhere) themselves.
If they are too busy, find another shop. If no one will do it, be prepared to ante-up for a complete new slide mechanism plus labor.
The slide will never work properly if not fixed.
