Sometimes planning ahead isn't an option.
We recently moved our daughter to Colorado not being sure til the last minute when we would be going. We stayed one night in a truck stop on the way out there. When we got there, we got the Uhaul we pulled unloaded, dropped it off and started looking for a place to stay the night and catch up on some sleep. We called about 15 campground and all were full ..... pulled into a truck stop on the edge of town and found out they had a security guard that only allowed 2 hr parking....pretty much turned into nightmare trying to find a place to park for the night. There was a town ordinance that disallowed overnight parking. Reviews on Allstays for the Walmarts and other box stores said the store allowed parking but the police kicked you out anyway. We found that there was a Camping World in town to we figured surely we could park in their lot for the night ..... when we got there they had gates that block entrance into their parking lot.
We finally had to drive about 45 miles out of town to find a truck stop to park for the night.
Maybe there is some reason for the ordinance, but it was a real PITA for us.
