Posting pictures

I have been trying for a half hour to post picture and I can't get it from the file in my computer to the forum. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
  • You can also copy and paste the image URL directly from a photo on a commercial website like say, an RV vendor's site, into the image thingy here without having to have it on a photo hosting service.

Don't forget you can also control the size of the photo in a post. Nothing's worse than a series of full-size photos in a post that unnecessarily takes up nearly a full page... (and then some folks will quote the complete post and double post all the same photos again)

You can even copy and paste directly from someone's signature photo or photo in their message such as from the below post (without permission from forum member, hehe):

And you can make it tiny:

  • The basics are that you need to:

    1. Upload a photo from your computer to a hosting site. There are several already mentioned that are free and don't require registering for an account.

    2. Copy and paste the "BB code" into your forum post which looks like this,

        [IMG]http://www.imagehost.com/my-photo.jpg[/IMG]

    3. If your photos dimensions exceed 640x480, than its recommended you add the following width=640 to reduce its display size,

        [IMG]http://www.imagehost.com/my-photo.jpg width=640[/IMG]

Try it yourself on this thread or to get help: Posting pictures within text messages.
  • It is not complicated or hard at all once you do it.

You need to find a picture hosting site such as Imgur.com, or Tinypic.com, or Photobucket.com (all of these are free) and then upload your pictures to the site. I usually use Imgur.

Then you copy the URL of the particular picture from the hosting site and paste it into your post or into the picture posting box you find in the icon that looks like a yellow postcard.

Make sure you specify the width to be 640 or less.

Click "Post message" at the bottom of the page.

You can find a detailed description of the process in the 4th link from the top in this thread which is located in our Forum Help and Support the link for which is located in the dark blue bar at the top right of the page.

The only pictures that can be uploaded directly to our forums are the ones in your signature and profile.

Hope this helps you out a bit.:)
