Power converter and frig

Purchased used travel trailer recently. All worked fine until temperature dropped 40 degrees in a day. Power converter which hummed , now has stopped humming, frig which worked, now only works on gas. Panel indicates breakers description as air conditioner, front, rear, microwave. The breaker for rear has tripped- whatever rear means we don’t know. The air and microwave works. Any advice?

  • Thanks to all who replied. We found problem. The junction box under the slide out had moisture in it. Evidently it has leaked there for some time. Now to replace it along with a lot of spongy wood. Converter is humming now - can't believe how good that sounds.
  • Yes check for tripled GFCI in your bathroom or kitchen area.
Call me. I can help you.
  • As Dave mentioned the converter fan will only run when the converter needs cooling. It may not need the fan when the temps drop. Then again, perhaps the converter has quit running; it should have it's own breaker. Do you have good 12V on the battery and the lights work normally? Any chance you plugged in a portable heater that tripped a breaker? Hang in there, camping in retirement is GREAT!
  • Thank you Dave. Hubby will check that out this morning.. we don’t know if it is a 3 way frig. I have googled pics of both, to me, controls look like a 2 way but he thinks it is a 3 way. Any way to check? It is a two door, buttons on outside are on, off, gas, auto comes on only if gas button is pressed. There is a check light which never comes on. The frig did run when we brought it home but don’t know if it was gas or dc. Hate to sound so dumb. We both recently retired and decided to see if we would enjoy camping - reason for purchasing an older model. It is in really good shape for a 2001 coachman..
  • Possible the GFI breaker has tripped. I would check that first. The converter will only hum when it is charging the batteries which will cause the fan to run when it heats up. Is the fridge a three way meaning DC AC and gas. Or is it a 2 way meaning AC and Gas? Need more info.
