Probably 1000 watt inverter is plenty but I do recommend sine wave. Also best to keep the 12v wire short and pull more 120 volt wire.
You can connect to a single existing circuit with a small transfer switch and probably avoid issues with powering up the converter/charger.
Get an inverter with a remote power switch to prevent discharge for an extended period.
when you say connect to a existing circuit via transfer switch, are you talking 120v?
