Power inverter Shut off

Hoping someone can help me out here.I have a small inverter (400w)in my trailer that we basically use for the kids to watch some tv at bed time since the campground we are usually in doesn't allow a generator to be run at night. My problem arises in the fact that my inverter is in the pass through at the front of the trailer in order to keep it close to the battery and then I have it connected to a surge protector that I plug the tv into. The problem this causes is that I have to go outside after they fall asleep to turn the inverter off. Is it possible to just install a light switch on the inside of my trailer in the front to still keep the line to the battery as short as possible. I was thinking of just putting a light switch on the positive lead from the battery in order to kill the power to the inverter. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Will the light switch work or do i need to use a dc switch. I would like to keep this all as simple as possible. thank you in advance for any help.
