Power steering fluid

Question

Question about power steering fluid. I have an older GM ( '07 Buick LaCrosse) vehicle which in the past has leaked power steering fluid. If I were to add some, do I need to add the same brand, same type, etc. I think it has a silicon type fluid now...would it need to be silicon fluid ?

Any issues, concerns that I should be aware of ?

Since it is leaking I would get some power steering stop leak such as Barr's and then top off with any good quality power steering fluid but not synthetic.

Leaking isn’t normal. Get it fixed. Is this a Buick forum?

Your owners manual will tell you what type of fluid it uses, probably  Dexron or equiv.

Do you have and have opened your owners manual which should state what type of fluid to use. In anycase you should should address the cause of the leak.
