By the way, I enjoyed your opinion. I happen to be one of those belt and suspenders type people who might normally be tempted to go for an auto former, but I choked on the price. After giving it more thought, and reading your post, it is over kill. You make a good point that if the quality of the electric supply at a a given campground is that terrible a person should find another campground. Thanks
Hey I do have strong feelings on this voltage thing, but as long as one puts it as THEIR PERSONAL OPINION ONLY and not tie it to some sort of factual basis then I have to let it slide. It's when folks like the one I quoted IMO step "OVER THE LINE" is what raises my hackles so to speak. Those of us with more experience owe it to those still trying to learn to not give them FALSE or MISLEADING information and quite frankly really fries me when it happens.
Someone in this thread brought up the issue that even a voltage low enough to trip something like the P.I. unit most likely is not a long term event which even mitigates this low voltage concern further. My P.I. unit is permanently installed and while it does have a "bypass" mode I can't see putting it in that mode since then I become the "voltage monitor" and I have better things to do when camping than staring at a voltmeter 24/7.
