prepping for 1300 mi trip

We just got back from a trip to Fort Wilderness and had a great time. Did not put any water in tank for there are plenty of places to stop. The only thing I was concerned about was getting diesel so we did all of our diesel purchases at Flying J/Pilot for all had RV pumps easy in and easy out. Found doing about 65mph was much less stressful for the majority of the highway traffic passed me. Did not have to be bunched up with all of them. Have a great trip and Fort Wilderness was well organized in there check-in and check-out. Bus service to anywhere you want to go at Disney.

Have your roadside asistance number and policy number handy.
Make sure you have plenty of quarters (a roll or two) for the FL Toll booths.
A few tools, some WD40, Some Gorilla Tape.
A tire pressure gauge, Check the pressure in your tires.
Relube the bearings if you have not this year prior to the season starting.
Check lugnut tightness.
A few of the snap lock electrical connectors and a coupls small spools of 12v wire never hurt.
Battery Operated drill.

Keep plenty of empty storage for the kids to bring back "Souvenirs".
Oh, and carry a torque wrench to check the lugnuts on all tires before you leave and a time or two after.(Especially if you need to change a tire during the trip)
On that note, take a bottle jack for those side-of-the-road tire changes just in case.

Ditto on the tires. Check them often. Also, it doesn't hurt to reach down and touch the hubs when fueling. If they are screaming hot, you had a bad bearing. Otherwise, I do a complete walk around while the truck is fueling. It's a good time to check the straps on the bikes, make sure no windows or doors have come open, etc.

Even on good roads, there is a lot of bouncing going on back there.

....and gas money!!!! ;)

Ok it sounds like we were on the right track. We were planning on half tank fresh for dishes, flushing. We drink bottled water and will have that in tt. Already researched potential overnight CGs and are planning on wheel bearings etc maintenance today. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Of course I'm a little worried about the tv because I just got it back from the shop. It has been having an intermittent power loss and dealership couldn't replicate or find he problem. Running sea foam cleaner through it now to see if that resolves that issue. But its had all its recent oil change, fuel filter change etc. Thanks again all.

Traveled approx. 1200 miles to FW in Oct 2011. Repacked the bearings before leaving. Kept enough water in the FWT for flushing the toilet or roadside emergencies. After that, I just did a walk around inspection of the TV and the camper at every gas station (which was about every 230 miles).

1300mi ... that's barely getting started for us and as others have stated just do what you normally would anytime you hit the road whether it's 2 hours or two days traveling. One thing I always do when going some place new is to do a lot of research on things like places to shop, get gas, ATM locations at our destination and put those into a category POI in my Garmin so it's all there an ready to go if and when it's needed.

If you have pets, especially dogs you might consider taking a few gallons of water from home and slowly change/mix that with the newer water to ensure you don't have pet issues from either end which can be a pain to deal with.

We always travel with a half tank of water just in case we have to stop for the night without hookups. Make sure your AC is working! you'll need it in FL.

Its more for if you have issues in between campgrounds. If you ever break down its nice to have a fully operational trailer while repairs are made.
