Primetime Avenger quality?? compared to Jayco or keystone

We looked at an Avenger when we bought our Coachmen. Two things swung us to the Coachmen. It was lighter than the Avenger and the Avenger we looked at had aluminum siding versus fiberglass on the Coachmen.

All things being equal, I would not had any problem buying the Avenger.

Avenger is from PrimeTime, which is part of Forest River. We have a PrimeTime Lacrosse. Quality is good so far. Forest River has a good rep. All the brands mentioned have a good rep. Personally, I think you'll get more enjoyment from having a slideout than from saving a few bucks, if that is a choice you can make. Just so much more room to move around inside.

We are considering an Avenger 26BH or Jayco 26BH. Decisions, decisions...

Get a slideout! Avenger 27BHS maybe?

Compromising on $2k now may cost you $8k in 2 years when you want to get the TT you really wanted.

FWIW, my Heartland North Trail 28BRS was $18.5k with a lot more features, and a bit bigger. Even without the $1k in options, it had more standard equipment than the ones you are looking at. It seems the 2013/14 models took some of the cost out of mine, but should still be had in the $17-18k price range. Tracer 2670 should be had for about $20k.

Get a quote from RV Direct on the Jayco models you are interested in. Holman RV and RV Wholesalers are also know for the low prices on brands they sell.

No slide out is a deal breaker. Choose a model with a slideout. You will be much happier down the road. Otherwise as mentioned above you'll be playing the upgrade game in search of more interior space.

Believe me, when you're cooped up in there on a rainy day you'll appreciate the slide.
After having a HTT for 7 years we had a list of must haves, nice to have, don't want's, don't care if it has it or not, and "I can add / fix that.". We looked at Johnson's, Ballantyne, Wilkins, CW, and a few other dealers. We liked the Jayco's and Coachmen but bought our North Trail from Ballard's out of Buffalo. DW didn't like a hard wall on the bedroom, she says it makes it too hard to make the bed. And with the curtain pulled back it seems roomier inside.
Check the pricing at RV Wholesalers and RV Direct. Even if you don't buy from them you can use their pricing as a guide.

Anyway.....if you're now in the market for a TT, triple check your tow capacity, I would suggest shorter WITH a slide over longer WITHOUT a slide.
A slide makes all the difference in the world. Realize, though, that a slide also means more weight. Check your numbers before you jump. And do plenty of homework on your price for the unit before rather than after. Good luck.

If you can pull it get the slide model. You will regret not having it especially with kids. If it was just you and the wife Id say anything would work. As far as quality all I can say is Ive been extremely happy with Primetime.

How many kids do you have? We had a Jayco 26BH, no slide and I have 3 kids. We outgrew it very quickly. It was a great trailer, well built. If I had gone with a 28BHS or something a little bigger I would have kept it (we were limited by our Yukon XL at the time too). I don't know about Jayco lightweights, but our Jayflight was solid.

We bought a Sprinter last year (a Keystone product). We really like it, but the build quality is a little less than the Jayco. We've had some minor issues and some of the fit/finish isn't what I would like. However, the more I talk to people and see units, all RV's have some issues and there are a variety of trade offs between quality/finish/price/size/weight and a few other things.

Buy from a reputable dealer. There's probably a reason why some of the RV's are less expensive than others, and there are reasons why some are really popular.

your right, I purchased a Jayco 17c about two months ago..LOL.. found out real quick that its way to small.. its my wife and I, and 2 daughters...but my daughter brings a friend, and my mother in law sometimes comes, also have an 18 yo stepson that hates camping but might come once per year..and everytime this season it rained, so we outgrew it real quick..LOL..
I purchased that 2011 jayco for around 10 grand, selling outright for 9 grand. someone coming tonight to buy it.. I took $1000.00 loss but that's the game we play I guess.
I am hoping to pull the trigger on the tracer 2670.. the dealer dropped price down to 21 grand before taxes, plus he is 10 minutes away and very well known and respected.. I really hope I can pull it..dealer says yes, and I believe them because the first thing they ask is what is my TV... I have a 2013 ram 1500 truck with 5.7 hemi... I think rated for 8500 pounds.... the tracer is around 5800 pounds.. they will put a E2 weight distribution on for me..could I have gone further and save a grand? maybe, ohio had one for 20 grand, but if my dealer is well known and respected its worth the extra 1000.00 to be able to take it local if the need arises. maybe im wrong with this thinking? I belive the tracer is 28 foot? could be wrong, its not listed on primetimes site, but it does have a nice slide.. we love that camper... hopefully its big enough... I cant go any bigger with my TV.... we should be happy and set for years...... if I made a mistake, well, im happy with the purchase and that's all that matters..... thanks
