The 40MPG is probably a stretch but if he keeps it under 55 its probably not too bad. I know our smart car mileage drops like a stone when towing but even worse if we go over 55...which we almost never do. We don't pull any distance and its usually just to get to a local lake. I wonder if he doesn't do the same. It would be neat if he could put a report on his towing experience. Gulfstream makes a lite 3000 pound single axle 19 foot trailer that would look sharp behind a white Prius.
