Privacy screen for screen door

So... our two previous TTs had one rear entry door, and windows on either side of the front bedroom, which we frequently opened at night for a cross draft to keep things cool-ish without having to run the A/C all night long.

New TT has two doors, one opening into the front bedroom... but only one window on the opposite wall. We've talked about just leaving the exterior door open and just cross-ventilating with the screen door... but she has some privacy concerns with just the screen door, and we've already had to put one of those reflective window shades inside the window on the exterior door to be able to sleep in mornings.

Recently I came across some posts here mentioning the EZ-Snap exterior window shade setup (mesh sun screen system with a specific mounting system, designed to go over exterior windows and block up to 90% of the heat before it gets inside, while keeping the ability to see *out*). It seems like this *should* be close to ideal for our needs - it'd add some additional privacy to the screen door, allow air to pass thru, and maybe block a portion of the morning sunlight.

Anybody have other ideas or suggestions?
  • We have a 2nd door in the bedroom also. We have the door plus a window on each side (one is a safety exit and we rarely open it for ventilation). When we ordered our TT new, we got a Maxxair fan installed in the bedroom and one in the bathroom.

What I don't like about the bedroom door is all the light that it lets in early in the morning - need to install some type of blinds on it. Leaving that door open at night would sure wake a person up earlier in the am!

We crack at least the bedroom window open and run the either the bedroom or bathroom fan on low at night. Sometimes we'll open a window or two at the rear for more air flow in the kitchen/living area. What works better is to run just the bathroom fan instead so it's quieter and also so it doesn't remove as much heat in cold weather (we have a permanent recessed electric heater in the bedroom). If it's really hot at night, we can run both fans and at a higher speed as needed.

If you have the standard noisy small bathroom fan, it is possible to upgrade. Speaking of keeping the door open at night, no way would my DW allow that because she has a "thing" about personal safety and locks both doors at night. Running a fan continuous at night solves the ventilation aspect of that.
