Probably a Silly Question
But..... Why don't they separate dual-trailer axles and make them more like car/truck axles? Like put one near the front and another near the rear? Seems like they would be more stable then too.

Besides the " scrubbing and bearing wear " you might get into an issue of a moving pivot point , every time that you backed up your trailer you might pivot four or five feet different . I know that when backing a tractor trailer rig with widely separated axles the pivot will move depending on the load .
