Heat ! Propane torch. You don't have to go crazy with it.

Use penetrating oil not WD40 and whack it now and again for a few days. And yes heat.

I replaced mine yesterday as well. Never thought I was going to break it loose, but I removed the exhaust baffle and got a 12" crescent wrench on it, and it finally started to turn. Mine is only 6 years old, but it was really frozen.

That is a brass fitting in a steel insert. If you heat both the brass and steel up and then throw cold water on both, it may break free easily. Dissimilar metals absorb and give off heat differently, forcing the rust to be confused, lol.

IF you go the heat route.......Remove the tstat rubber coverRemove both sets of t-statsPull the 120V and 12V wiring inside over to the left as much as possible away from heatI prefer some penetrating oil, some taps with wrench/hammer just to jar it so penetrating oil can seep between thread, let soak for at least an hour ----couple shots of oil/whacks while waitingThen try to 'tighten' it a bit before trying to loosenA 'cheater pipe' may need to be part of the equation of removal.

How many of us have busted knuckles from holding a wrench when trying to get something loose and either the tool slips or the connection breaks free. Very hard to remember to push with an open palm in case something gives and your hand might slam into something.

Need a bigger tool or the right tool so it does not slip, applies the torque properly and your hand should be in a safe position.

I would be tempted to thread some steel pipe into the fitting and crank it off.

I never tried this, but the theory is correct.

You need a can of "canned air" and a hair dryer. Turn the can upside down and spray the brass valve. Make a deflector for the hair dyer and try to warm the tank around the valve without heating the valve.

For now I'm going to have to give up. I busted my hand pretty well when the wrench slipped. RV repair shop may have to be my friend.

try crc freeze-off. Its a penetrating oil with some "extra stuff" that basically cools causing the rust to fracture. People have had good successful in auto area for things like O2 sensor removal. I think advanceauto carries the stuff... along with amazon.

So far still nothing. Been soaking it in PB Blaster all morning and it still won't budge. It's now become personal hehe.
