Propane and battery locks

Mine is a 5er so the tanks are recessed in a compartment. I just drilled a hole in the large wing nut type handle and the bar that holds the tanks down and use a receiver pin lock through them. I dont think you could get snips back in there or a grinder.

Use a cable lock for the propane tanks. Use both camping or in storage. Better safe then sorry!

Never had a problem with those items being stolen. Not to say that it could'nt happen. It would take a real lowlife camper to steal one out of a campground, though that too could happen. I try to introduce myself to our neighbors in the campground and keep an eye on things when they leave and hopefully they'll do the same for me.
I keep our camper in the back yard with a fence around the yard. But like several have said, if someone's going to steal something, no amount of locks or cables is going to stop them. I just try to make it as difficult as possible for them and maybe they will move on to an easier target.

Theft is more of an issue in storage lots. Theft can happen in campgrounds but we have not experienced it. What I've learned over the years is that generally, another camper will not touch your stuff. It's usually the "passers through" that are looking to steal and is more common at the beach campsites (at least in Calif) as beaches must be open to the public by law, thus the low lifes can walk up from the beach into the campground and steal stuff.

When camping? No, I'm near the camper and if I do leave there are other people camping around. I go camping at the local campgrounds and we all keep a eye on each other.

I store my camper at home and I live way out in the country so I'm not worried about it here.

If I was traveling across country I would put my battery's in a locked case. It may not stop them but, as somebody said if you can slow them down they might just move on to easier pickings.

Thefts of these items are crimes of opportunity. You are most likely to be victimized while the TT is in a storage facility. There are not gangs of peple trolling the streets armed with bolt cutters, lock picks and torches filling up their trunks with batteries and propane tanks.

It is not likely to happen while camping.

I lock my stuff up as mentioned in this thread and have no issues. I have had a battery stolen while I had my TT stored in a facility. It now sits in my expanded driveway.

The only place we had a propane tank stolen was in the locked and videoed storage yard. (we found out after the fact we were parked in a video blind spot). The thief stole both full tanks and I did not notice it until we were setting up camp. He replaced them with empty tanks. Later found out it was the live in facility attendant who had his own trailer out back, and he helped himself to free propane tanks. Now the tanks are secured with a cable, and a second cable through the plastic cover.

The batteries are a real hassle to get to anyway, in the narrow space between the tanks and front of the rig. Now they are chained and padlocked, then strapped down, and inside a box. I curse every time I have to access them for maintenance.

Yep! Locks stay on! I have had coolers rummaged and stolen,A couple of places along the coast have had generators stolen.. I even put a lock on my flag pole!!

We lock the propane tanks all the time. Use the chain for the battery's to lock the Wineguard. When done camping chain goes on battery's.

In 30 plus yrs of tent camping the only thing we ever had taken was firewood 2 summers ago we knew who did it but what can you do. Again question is while camping is there an issue. We had friends who camped in Alleghany State Park in NY and twice they had things taken while hiking so they lock everything up.
