The forest service(PNF) here in Idaho uses alot of older RV's for there crews that are working way out. They always have issues with there refer's because know one listens to, be sure the frig is level...Each year they take some of the failing refer's out and burp them aka turn them upside down. They also take them apart and skin them adding new insulation etc etc in the off months.
The quickest fix for some of them is turn the refer on and drive down a real wash boardy road.
Myself,it depends on where I am going whether I turn mine on while driving. If I am going to spend alot of time goofing off unlevel on the way to camp,I leave it off.If I will be spending most of the time in level places or just traveling,I turn it on while on the road but if a wash boardy road is involved like most all of my trips,it is always on.
