Propane tank cover

The opening at the top isn't nearly as large, but it works just fine for me...

I have one of the top hinged covers and really like it. It came with the camper. And yes I have seen them for like $300 new which is OMG!!!



However they have also sold for $40 (new) at the RV Surplus places in Elkhart. Had a camper buddy with the same brand as I have and he picked up 2 extra ones as he knew he could sell them. Maybe trying hunting the surplus places.

That's the drawback to any of them. Door, no door, holes drilled out. They can fly in from the bottom and make themselves at home.

My TT came with the one with the door on the top. Works okay BUT you can't see the indicator to tell if one tank is empty. With both tank valves open there is an indicator that show red when one tank is empty. So I still remove the cover to check this indicator.

They are strictly for looks to present a more streamlined finished appearance to the tounge.
I've seen claims they help preserve the hoses to and from the regulator from UV degeneration but that seems unlikely to me.
One would look out of place on an older or classic camper to me.

Mine came with the new camper so I'm not sure of the cost-the manufacturer pays a lot less I'm sure.
I'd be very cautious about cutting an access hole in the back.
Here in the MidWest wasps build nests in every cavity they can get in and they seem strangely drawn to the smell of propane.
That could lead to a very nasty surprise. As it is I've had wasps get under a solid cover and nest so I take mine off carefully.

You're telling me! At $268.95 it had better come with both bottles filled and the regulator as well. I guess the "normal" ones are looking pretty good right about now. :)
