Purchased a used Jay Featther

Wavy and soft is water damage. Need to find source of leak.

Did the seller tell you about this before purchase? I'd go get my money back if he didn't.

I agree! Unless they were up front about it, you have a good chance of getting your money back.

Sorry, I disagree. Don't know, but it is overwhelming the sale was "as-is," which will release the seller from any warranty or guarantee.

:-( I think you kind of got your answer. IF you want it fixed "back to factory" and by a dealer, it is likely not economical. But as some suggest, you first need to find the source of the leak and stop it. Next, you need to decided on what you are willing to put up with in terms of the repair. Depending on the extent of the damage, you may be able to "sub frame" the ceiling to add strength where needed and then cover this with paneling. This assumes that the exterior still has some integrity both structurally and water proof wise. IF you can't or won't do this yourself (or with a "beer buddy"), then the costs for hiring any professional is going to likely be prohibitive.

Your best bet is to find some one that is a handy man that understands a bit about trailer construction.... and cross your fingers. If the area is relatively small (less than a half sheet of plywood), it is probably to possible to do a reasonable repair. Removing the AC and / or inside shroud will likely tell more about what you are up against.

Live with it and learn from it. I don't see much else you can do. Those roof designs were notorious for that. I had an 2003 Jayco that leak and they wanted to send it back to Illinois for repair.

Hey there original poster. Everybody seems to be piling on you here. Step back for a minute and consider the whole thing.

First, my suggestion to you is to search for a forum member that goes by "westend". He has re-done his trailer, and has a huge amount of practical knowledge on how to proceed with fixing this stuff. And over and over he has proven to be more than willing to share what he knows with the forum.
So check him out, maybe send him a PM, and then roll your sleeves up and I'll bet you can make this trailer whole again, and go do what you wanted to in the first place: enjoy camping with your family without blowing the budget to smithereens.

I would cover it for now. That will give you some time to research your options. Assuming the ceiling is safe, you can always hang a tarp over it when you camp.

If it is just a relatively small area, you can fix this, depending on how handy you are. I've repaired the same thing on the floor of our camper. If it's fairly large, might not be worth it. You may also want to have an RV repair guy look at it.
