Q about LED bulbs replacements for TV stop/tail/turn lights

Thanks to all for your comments.

Gde mentioned the use of a resistor, and in fact in studying this I have noticed that some ebay sellers sell the resistors with the bulbs.

Depends.

Typically putting aftermarket LED bulbs into fixtures that were designed for incadescent bulb patterns tend to be considerably LESS bright..

LEDs have a different pattern and often it is difficult to mimic the 360 degree spread of light from the sides plus what comes off the top...

I would suggest asking if the LEDs you are wanting to buy have a DOT approval..

Then there is a secondary problem you will run into.. LED aftermarket bulbs draw less current, this will cause your vehicle to go into hyper flash. Depending on the year of vehicle you sometimes can buy a heavy duty flasher unit.

But in newer vehicles the flash timing duty rests on the vehicles Body Control Computer and to fix that you have to use a add on resistor module which simulates the current draw of an incadescent bulb.

The bad thing is if you use a resistor or heavy duty flasher module you are BYPASSING a safety device which TELLS the driver that a bulb is out..

I guess nobody has run into a problem yet ? Changing the 'load' on the electrical system on many vehicles
sets a code/fault,something in the truck is monitoring the lights and tells the driver when one burns out .
I have a turn signal that has become sensitive to moisture and drives me nuts.
If you want to add chicken lights or any light change means a trip to the dealer to tell the computer to 'never mind' :-)

Thanks, but reading the descriptions of those two products, I read no reference to the bulbs each lighting in two separately controlled parts, to emulate the separately controlled two filaments of a traditional stop/tail/turn light bult.

I have the 1157 and they work just like standard 1157, lights on hit the turn signal or brakes and they get brighter. at $10 postage paid you really can't go wrong.

Thanks. Appreciate it. I went to buy a couple of his 3157's, but that seller just went out of stock of that item -- he has none.
