Quality travel trailer

Hi folks, long time member, been a while since I have posted.
So if I were looking for a trailer to replace my sunline what might I select? I am just looking for opinions that may get me thinking somewhere I have not yet considered.
I am not looking for a 50,000 dollar rig. current rig was about 20,000 in 2006. Has been phenomenal and we are having a hard time parting with her. Quality built and is holding up very well.
We are considering upgrading to a unit with a slide and a few more creature comforts.

Looking for a unit that has recliners that face the television, reasonable counter space, access to the bed, bathroom and fridge without sliding slides out. at least a 2000 lb carry capacity, 50 gallons tanks. Would love to find a unit that does not have appliances in the slide. I believe in keeping a unit a long time if it's quality. Just want some more room.
Not at all into the dark wood, cave looking campers that we are seeing. The seem cold and uninviting. We currently have light maple and love it.
I am totally aware that all of these things likely do not exist in one unit. I am finding myself thinking of used, but the older roofs, leaks etc come into play and I don't want to gut a unit out to get it in shape. What to do. May have the keep old reliable.
Thanks for your constructive input.
  • We just bought a new Work And Play , not for the quality but for the rugged construction and heavily built undercarriage . We have been adding and subtracting from interior . Most interiors today are so lightly built that we thought we could do a better job , time will tell .
  • We traded our Sunline for a Winnebago Minnie (we were downsizing) but I don't see anything in the Winnebago line that fits what you would like. So, I would check out Arctic Fox/Nash or possibly something such as the Jayco Eagle line. All you can do is look at a lot of trailers, avoiding the cheaper lines and see what will work for you.
  • Thanks for the info. I am not willing to spend 50,000 as noted in my original post. It is unfortunate that quality suffers so much. If they could build quality in 06 they certainly can today. It is discouraging.

I had a Sunline, believe me, keep it if you can. All the convenience items that a new trailer might offer ain't worth the aggravation you will have.
  • They all have issues.
There are people trying to use $500,000 class A's that can't, because they're 'in the shop'.
You have to earn $100k in order to spend $50k. I would be more concerned with the mfg. that will stand behind the unit.
Buy the floorplan you like with the features that will make you happy, then hope for the best.
The more gadgets it has the more things to malfunction. I have learned to keep things simple in this RV world.
  • If you want to spend that kind of money...maybe look at Arctic Fox.
Not sure about the light color cabinets and maybe hard to find in the East...they are built in Oregon..

Quality, engineering and features are excellent.
