Query on Camplite total height mounted

Hi. I'm in the planning stages for a Camplite TC. I am currently living in a 16DB Camplite TT, am very happy with the fact that it does not mold. I want to travel and find that at my age I'm not strong enough to do all the hooking up etc to tow this one, so am planning instead to sell this and get a TC. Probably the 8.5 or 8.6 because I'm going to spend at least three months in it, and I think a smaller one wouldn't work for me. The big question is, what is the mounted height of these om an F150? And is an F150 V6 big enough? I just test drove an F150 8' bed today, and the sales guy said the V6 with turbo or whatever it has, power boost, something, has more horsepower than the previous V8s did. So anybody who has one of thess, what is the total height of the thing? I am building a carport and need to get the roof high enough to fit camper plus truck underneath. The sun here is intense and I don't want to store it in the sun. Thanks sorry for the long post.
  • Looking at the livinlite website it says the 8.6 is 105" tall including a low profile air conditioner. Then it all depends on how tall the bed floor of the truck you choose is. For example my dodge bed floor is 36" from the ground. That would make the entire package 141" tall. Of course as someone mentioned the truck will squat some when the camper is placed on so that height will be two or three inches less depending on squat.
    Hope this helps.
  • From their website:

    8.5 Model
Int. Floor Length 110" Dry Weight *1,800 lbs Width Between Wheel Wells: 47.5"
*Exterior Height (off truck): 97" Interior Height: 76" Grey Water: 7 gal.
Cabover Int. Height w/o Mattress: 34" Black Water: 7 gal. Exterior Width (slide out in) 89.5" Fresh Water: 32 gal. Exterior Length: 172" **Center of Gravity: 48"
    8.6 Model
Int. Floor Length 103" Dry Weight *1,995 lbs Width Between Wheel Wells: 47.5"
*Exterior Height (off truck): 105" Interior Height: 80" Grey Water: 17 gal.
Cabover Int. Height w/o Mattress: 41" Black Water: 14 gal. Exterior Width (slide out in) 89.5" Fresh Water: 30.5 gal. Exterior Length: 195" **Center of Gravity: 33.5"
    * Height measured with optional low profile AC.
** COG measured from the front of the truck camper floor toward the tail gate.

Add the height of the bed of the truck you choose less any "settling" onto the springs and you will have the overall height.
  • I have an Arctic Fox on an F350 and my total height is just under 12 feet to the top of the AC unit. I'm sure yours wouldn't be quite that high.
