You can do that with any vehicle but you should have it analysed. I change mine at 4 months or 10000kms/6200 miles - which ever comes 1st, but that's how I like it done.
He can chime in but Blackstone is where you can have your oil Analyzed.
I did the same with my 98 12V running AMZ/OIL changing the filter at 5K then sampled at 10K they said try 13K next time.
