Question for Geico users

So I've been searching the forums and found that some insurers consider a TC to be an accessory to the truck, therefore covered by the existing policy. I didn't even think to ask about that when I called Geico. I just said that I wanted to add a TC and they gave me the number to "Geico RV". They then quoted me about $250 per year. Seems a little high considering my wife and I both have perfect driving records with no claims for the 10 years we've had Geico. All three of our vehicles are insured with them.

It seems some of you guys paying next to nothing to add a TC. What gives?

BTW, I don't plan taking the camper off of the truck except while at home, in which case, my HO's policy covers it. If I don't need to add RV coverage, that would be nice. Just wanted to get some input.

Thanks.

  • In NJ you don't have to insure a camper for liability if it isn't motorized. We do, because otherwise it isn't covered for collision or comp. By the way, I don't have Geico, but can't stand the company! My son was rear-ended by someone with Geico, and while they found absolutely no fault with him in the collision, didn't cover the damage because the car that hit the car that hit him took off. Also, my neighbor backed into my legally parked car (she had Geico) and it took months for them to pay off even though it was obviously her fault and the police report said the accident was caused by her improper backing up and her inattentive driving. They can keep their lizard!

I did. The rep told me no, because it has "living quarters", and then proceeded to transfer me to the Geico RV before I could get a word in.
  • I had Geico for years on my car, but my Policy renewal kept going up with no accidents or tickets.
I switched to allstate last year and am happy with the results over $200.00 saving every six months. Just my experience with Geico.
  • we use to have geico for a long time and yes we had the tc covered too. we ended up switching to Safeco. it was a lot cheaper for the exact coverage. yes, they cover rvs. although they keep calling it a trailer and its listed on the card as a trailer. in the records they have, it lists what it really is. seems the computer programs they have don't list a tc. no problem insuring them with Safeco though.
