Question for mechanics about replacement starters?

I would check the price on one like say ORilleys. I bet they offer one with a lifetime warranty. I have never had to take advantage of the replacement warranty. :h

Whoah, just noticed you needed opinions from "mechanics" well that isn't me.

Stick with OEM. If they're out of stock, I'd go with Denso as an alternate.

Stay far, far away from any reman units. When I was running a shop, we'd see remans often come back within a year. From any of the suppliers (I think they all buy from the same foreign networks now).

My factory starter made it 450,000 miles, at which point I preemptively replaced it with another OEM starter.

Also, are you sure yours is bad? The two started solenoids can go bad. The fender solenoid is somewhat common. Mine lasts ~100,000 each. The started-mounted solenoid lasted me 3x that time.

+1 on this. And I turned wrenches professionally for a decade to get through college.

Forget price and ask for the best they have. Don't blink, just install it.

Have it professionally rebuilt.

Depends if you're fixing it to sell or keep for a long time.
IMO, quality parts stores like Napa and Carquest used to have good reman parts. Now they're all the same junk as the bargain parts stores. Anything with the Dorman brand is c rap.

take it to a local shop that rebuilds them ,just like new.only takes couple days. and you know whats in the starter.

Don't know what year your F250 or I would have looked it up...
