Stay far, far away from any reman units. When I was running a shop, we'd see remans often come back within a year. From any of the suppliers (I think they all buy from the same foreign networks now).
My factory starter made it 450,000 miles, at which point I preemptively replaced it with another OEM starter.
Also, are you sure yours is bad? The two started solenoids can go bad. The fender solenoid is somewhat common. Mine lasts ~100,000 each. The started-mounted solenoid lasted me 3x that time.
I think it's a dead spot in the armature. It only does it rarely, this morning at the fuel station was one of them. Could hear the rely click behind the glove box but nothing. Last year it did it a couple of times but usually a few clicks of the ignition it would start. Very sporadic. The only thing that saved me was I was parked on a slight hill and could roll backwards and pop the clutch to bump start it. I thought about trying a new solenoid but with 200k miles thought I would just put in a new starter, solenoid is on the starter.
