Hitching up is a "one time get out" event for me also. I use a hitching mirror on the tailgate of my pickup and just have to get out to check the height of the tongue.
I painted the top of my stinger white and the the top front of the hitch white so it shows up better in the dark. Makes it VERY easy to get lined up using the mirror. Almost always hit it dead on first try.
