question on cleaning old sealant before applying new

I found a few spots on my TT around windows and other sides that I need to go over with caulking. This is not the roof, sides only. What should I be using to clean the old caulk first before applying the new sealant? I am using "Proflex brand"
Thanks

  • Definitely remove the old caulk, especially if it's silicon. I had better results removing old caulk with alcohol based solvent than with mineral spirits.

Not that there's anything wrong with mineral spirits, but I prefer denatured alcohol because it cleans better and dries faster.

  • Like previous post said. I wiped mine down with minersl spirits let it dry couple of days then used Proflex. My MH is parked inside. It is starting to get almost too cold to caulk outside now. Needs some 60 degree drying time.
  • Wipe it with a rag with some mineral spirits, and let it dry before applying the new sealant.
