Normally it would be loaded in compression by the nut. Not a good idea generally speaking, with very careful engineering, attention to fatigue limits, and good controls on exactly how they get mounted and torqued maybe you can get away with it - but here in the real world, not a good idea.
This was my point exactly when I originally posted this,I have since gotten rid of the wheels.
