I have a 2010 Ram diesel, basically the same truck. They come with a 6 spd automatic transmission which is far different than the 4 spd it replaced. Mine has 94,000 miles and has been bullet proof. The fact that it doesn't use DEF is no big deal to me. I get 10-11 mpg towing about 11,500 pounds and 17-18 mpg on the highway empty. Haven't had any front end or ball joint issues..those problems were common on the last generation of Dodges, not the 2010 and newer ones. You don't always get good advice from a form like this on truck issues. I would go to a Dodge/Ram forum and do some reading there...
