I would not keep a "DEF stash". I would just stop and buy it when I needed it. The cheapest price is on the fuel island at a truck stop. With the amount they sell it will also be "fresh". My biggest concern with DEF is to make sure it NEVER goes in the fuel tank. DEF in your fuel will trash the engine. The DEF nozzle on the fuel island is designed only to open when in the DEF tank fill connection. Magnetic valve in end of nozzle.
Otherwise get the RAM and enjoy. I get 11 mpg with 4.10 gears pulling 12,000# so you should do better than that. I'd also expect to get around 20 mpg when "bobtailed".
