Funny how every hard towing test I have seen or read about in the last year or more has put the duramax on top. I am not saying others are junk, just that when diesel magazines put these trucks to the extreme tests and the duramax comes out on top, that says something.
The magazines put much emphasis on 0-60 times or which truck pulls the 20,000 lb trailer up the 8% grade the fastest. Those numbers are important for bragging rights but when towing my RV down the highway I am more interested in a quiet comfortable ride and fuel economy. Although the Ford exhaust brake could be better it's adequate. The GM's seats could be better but their adequate. I appreciate things like the Ford's seats, mirrors, storage compartments, quietness, information center, keypad door unlock, tailgate step, better transmission controls (ie I can operate the truck as a 2,3,4,5 or 6 speed auto by locking out any number of the upper gears) larger back seat area, better quality materials (in the cab especially).
