Raggedy stripes? Fix??

Thanks for the reminder about the jacks! I'm heading off to a rustic kayak-and-camp trip in a couple of weeks (was never able to do those before because the Class C didn't fit in the forest). I'll put the jacks in their horizontal position then.

Be careful of that aft jack it appears to be hanging out there some with out protection.

Well, I used the heat gun and a plastic putty knife - but the stripes just shred. It dawned on me that maybe tape over the tape, then heated, might pull the old stripe off intact? I was working on the back....and since the stickiest, strongest tape I have is aluminum tape, I put that over the upper bunch of stripes. And it looked pretty cool! Since the middle stripe is in good shape, I put aluminum below that on the rest of the stripes. Ed walks by and says "Cool! That increases the conspicuity, too!" Hmmmm....

So for the moment, my camper is "chromed". I'll post a picture later. I figure the aluminum tape will oxidize and turn grayish - that's probably when I'll try to pull off ALL the tape. But in the meantime, it looks different :-)

Heat gun and scraper of choice. Then 3M Adhesive Remover. Followed with automotive paint thru a cheap little cup gun and compressor. Putting new stripes over old stripes will transfer the cracks thru the new tape and mean you have two layers to strip next time. It's all a lot of work, believe me.

the first thing i did when i got my new camper was to peel off the dealer advertising with a heat gun.works great.the only problem with a 90's camper will be the new stripe from the old stickers.

Thanks, everyone! I forgot to mention that I have the textured aluminum panels - NOT the nice smooth fiberglass sides :-( I'm afraid anything sharp will slice the paint off the high spots? But I DO have a heat gun - will try that with a plastic putty knife and see how it goes?

Heated electric razor blade like you can get at Harbor Freight works better than anything else for me. That puts the heat where you need it. I would say that it is harder than it might seem to get all of the glue etc off.

X2 on the heat gun and putty knife. Then you can go to a shop that makes graphics and install whatever you want.
