New trucks are a better deal than a low mileage clean truck at premium price, if you make the effort to get a good deal.

That's entirely subjective.
To pay two or three thousand more for a used truck may keep the OP from spending $15K+ more on a new one. Plus, all dealers pay the same price for new vehicles. You have to compare their markups.
