I took a second look at page 105 to 109, and there's only mention of the chassis filter. No mention of an engine mounted filter. Did you by chance read the HD section which is further down the book? Because the Cummins has 2 filters but I can only find 1 for the 1500 section.
I know that for the HD truck, both fuel filters are also water separators. They are both filter-in-a-filter designs. So when you do your monthly draining, you have to do the rear filter housing and the engine filter housing on my truck.
