The attitudes here are why this forum doesn't grow or new members are chased away. It's the attitude. It comes out on gas verses diesel. Half tons verses the world, try mounting Chinese Tires (like Sampsons that have a decent reputation) and see what posts you get. That's why the forum basically stays at the same number of total pages....IT'S THE ATTITUDE.
Honestly I think you're right... It gets downright hilarious, childish and sometimes downright frustrating. I know it pushed me away for quite some time and I've returned (while trying to learn/research some items) to see the same people arguing the same points. I know it's a free world and if I don't like it - I don't have to read it or can leave again.. Just sayin'... - 2112Explorer III don't own an oil burner or ever had but as I was reading this oil change squabble it reminded me of my situation with motorcycle tires.
I had a smallish 1996 Honda VLX 600. She got 55mph, 8000 miles on a rear tire at $110 each and 15,000 miles on a front tire at $90 each (these are year 2000 prices). It was economical to commute on this bike.
I bought a Honda VT1000 Spirit in 2003, 45mpg, 6000 miles on the rear at $250 and 10,000 on the front at $160 (todays prices). It is no longer economical to commute via this motorcycle because the fuel savings is eaten up by buying overpriced rubber. I have to buy 10 rear tires to your one!
Back on topic:
2008 - 2010 I waited for Ford to develop their 1/2 ton diesel. I saw this as a perfect fit for ME. For whatever reason it fell apart and they introduced the Ecoboost so that's what I wound up with.
I applaud Dodge for rolling out this combo. I am in no way a Mopar fan but this is a step in the right direction for them. It will be a great fit for many people not requiring HD performance but desire an efficient 1/2 ton. The good ol' boy's down here will be lapping this truck up like sweet tea, I guarantee ya.
Way To Go Dodge! Good Job... - CKNSLSExplorerThe attitudes here are why this forum doesn't grow or new members are chased away. It's the attitude. It comes out on gas verses diesel. I think most of us probably go somewhere to have our oil changed.Even though I changed my own oil on occasion, I find it a messy procedure and then you have to deal with putting it in containers (or transporting the container you used) to a disposal facility. It's a hassle. I would venture to say the "do it your selfers" are the exception rather than the rule. So it would probably be fair to compare costs at the dealer., local garage, etc. where ever you go to have your oil changed. I don't think comparing oil costs at Sam Club is the best way to go, simply because most of us have the oil changed elsewhere.
well if you're not going to change your own oil then you shouldn't ***** about the extra cost when you piss money way to pay someone else to loosen and tighten a bolt. Or if you have a fumoto valve, turn a handle 1/4 turn.
*****ing about the extra cost of something for the sole fact you don't want to get your hand dirty is like *****ing about replacement part costs and buying them at a dealer.
It's not only that...you motor holds MORE OIL. It's 10qts. MOST PEOPLE DON'T CHANGE THEIR OWN OIL. That's REAL WORLD. Some of us live in neighborhoods where we can't change out our own oil. We don't live on farms or rural areas where it is OK. - BeerCanExplorerEDIT: Nevermind, not worth the digital ink.

No matter how you slice it an oil change cost more on the diesel. Just because it holds more oil, it is simple math. Why are people even arguing about this? Is it a badge of honor to have a cheap oil change nowadays?
I change mine at 10,000 miles but could go to 15,000 and my oil filter is $5. Your 150 recommends semi-synthetic and mine says dino oil.($36 plus $5 filter every 10,000 miles)No matter how you slice it, my diesel is cheaper than your 150 was. I also get better fuel mileage, haul more, pull more, and mine probably cost less new. Like someone has already said, depends on which diesel.;)
No. The F150 did not recommend synthetic (semi or otherwise) it only says that the oil should meet WSS-M2C929-A. Many dino oils meet that spec, such as PYB Plus it goes on sale often and sometimes includes a free filter. ;)
Okay and your point is? Your F150 still was not cheaper to service.
:R
OK you win. feel better?
Dude it wasn't a competition to me, I just hate when someone that owns one of the most expensive vehicle brands to keep up and maintain gives false info. - DirtyOilExplorerI know one thing you wouldn't want to do in this thread, take an average penis size. There's a lot of compensating going on in here.
I've never seen such passion for a stupid oil change.
Oh snap!! Beat me to it.
