Ram 1500 EcoDiesel mpg test

Link to video

Even with 3.92 gears is got great mpg - 33+ mpg at 65 mph :E.

Also of note was the EVIC mpg was low compared to actual, just like the other Ram trucks they tested.

Dunno, but if there is any grain of truth to the figure, that is impressive. Shoot, my wife's 2000 Camry only averages about 29 mpg, and weighs half as much! :C
  • I find it interesting that they conduct these mpg tests where they do. It sounds strange, but high elevations can actually increase mpg due to the air being less dense.
  • I own a 2014 EcoDiesel with 3:92 gears, Crew Cab, 6'4" bed with 4x4. The MPG I get is 26.5 on the open road, that is from two 2,000 mile trips, and 19 mpg around town. Towing a TT at 7,200 pounds loaded I get 14 MPG.
  • Lifetime EVIC versus Hand calc on my rig is the EVIC reading 3% optimistic. That is with 72 datapoints to back that up. Pretty sure it didn't include a regen on this, however it seems that the 1500 setup is similar to the Cummins setup in which the DPF is at the front of the exhaust stack and really close to the engine. Active regens seem to take place once every 3 or 4 tanks of fuel when I'm doing mostly highway driving. It gets to about once ever 1 or 2 tanks of fuel when stuck in city traffic.
  • Ram has been historically very close on its' posted mileage. No reason to believe that has changed.
  • That's impressive but I have to wonder what it would do with real world driving with some stop and go built in.
I also like the stop/start feature of the EB. That's got to help out with more normal grocery-getter type driving.
  • The EVIC fuel economy was much closer to the actual fuel economy unlike the other HD RAMs and I'm pretty sure this test didn't include a regen.

Having said that the fuel economy is impressive for a full size truck.
